PROGRAM 8

TOUR NORTHERN GREECE

8 DAYS – 7 NIGHTS  

 

Day 1: Arrival in Thessaloniki , transfer to hotel, overnight.

 

Day 2: In the morning visit to the archaeological museum. In the afternoon city tour of Thessaloniki (Rotonda, White tower, Arch of Galerius, etc.) and visit the the churches of Agia Sophia and Agios Dimitrios. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.

 

Day 3: In the morning excursion to Vergina (tombs of Macedonian kings) and in the afternoon excursion to Pella (old Macedonian capital). Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.

 

Day 4: Via Dion (ancient city at the feet of famous Olympus mountain), to Kalambaka (Meteora monasteries). Dinner and overnight in typical taverna near Kalambaka.

 

Day 5: Visit several Meteora monasteries. After late lunch drive back to Thessaloniki. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.

 

 

Proposal A:

Day 6: Drive to Kavala (visit museum and short walk in old traditional centre), after lunch ferryboat to the green island of Thassos . Possibility of visiting the archaeological sites and fantastic beaches. Dinner and overnight on Thassos.

Day 7: Ferryboat back to Kavala. Via Filippi (visit ancient Macedonian city and first Christian church in Europe founded by apostOle Paul) drive back to Thessaloniki. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to the airport. Return flight to Brussels.

 

 

Proposal B:

Day 6: Drive via Chalkidiki to Ouranopolis. Possibility of visiting the Mount Athos with overnight (only allowed for men over 18 years old). Others overnight at hotel by the sea in Chalkidiki.

Day 7: Visit at different monasteries in the monks republic of Athos. In the afternoon drive back to Thessaloniki. For those not visiting Athos relaxing at fabulous beaches of Chalkidiki. Dinner and overnight in Thessa­loniki.

Day 8: Transfer to the airport. Return flight.
